Lanto Junior Tour History

The Tour was established by Lanto Griffin in 2021. His goal was to create an accessible junior golf tour that provides juniors the opportunity to develop their games in a competitive setting. Whether a player is striving to play collegiate golf or make their high school golf team, the Lanto Junior Tour is here to support them in their journey.

Lanto Griffin

Griffin played high school golf in Blacksburg and earned a scholarship to Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), where he starred on the golf team. There, he was named Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year in 2009, and he graduated in 2010 with a degree in marketing.

Turning Professional

Griffin turned professional in 2010 and spent several years grinding through mini-tours and developmental circuits, including PGA TOUR Latinoamérica. His early professional years were marked by financial challenges and near-misses at qualifying tournaments, but he persevered.

Professional Career & Breakthroughs

  • 2015 – Griffin captured a win at the Roberto De Vicenzo Punta del Este Open Copa NEC on PGA Tour Latinoamérica and also won the Virginia Open.

  • 2017 – While competing on the Web.com Tour (now Korn Ferry Tour), he won the Nashville Golf Open, becoming one of the few players to win after making the weekend cut on the number. This performance helped him secure his first PGA Tour card for the 2017–18 season.

  • 2019 – He returned to the Korn Ferry Tour, won the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Championship, and finished high enough on the money list to regain PGA Tour status.

  • 2019 – Houston Open – Griffin’s biggest career milestone came in October when he won the Houston Open, his first PGA Tour victory. This breakthrough propelled him into the spotlight and secured his status on the Tour, including entry into key events and the FedExCup Playoffs.
